Matters needing attention in TVS diode selection
1. It is necessary to clearly confirm the maximum DC value, rated standard voltage value and "high-end" tolerance value of the protected circuit;
2. The maximum clamping voltage of the TVS tube should be less than the damage voltage of the protected circuit;
3. The rated reverse turn-off voltage of the TVS tube should be greater than or equal to the maximum working voltage of the protected circuit;
4. After determining the maximum clamping voltage of the TVS tube, its peak pulse current should be greater than the transient surge current;
5. The maximum peak pulse power of the TVS tube must be greater than the peak pulse power of the protected circuit;
6. To consider the effect of temperature changes on the characteristics of TVS tubes, TVS tubes work between -55°C and 150°C;
7. Most of the DC protection circuits choose unidirectional TVS tubes, most of the AC protection circuits choose bidirectional TVS tubes, multi-channel protection circuits choose TVS array devices, and high-power protection circuits choose special protection modules;
8. In the process of using TVS tube, considering the discreteness of TVS, try to reduce the number of serial/parallel.
